The festive season is fast approaching, and that means one of Rotorua's favourite Christmas traditions is making its return. The EVES Christmas Lights Trail is back for 2026, and we're calling on Rotorua locals to help make this year's event bigger and brighter than ever.

Each year, homes across Rotorua come alive with colourful lights, festive decorations and creative displays, bringing Christmas cheer to families and visitors throughout the city.

The EVES Christmas Lights Trail is all about celebrating the festive season, bringing our community together and recognising the time, effort and creativity that the participants put into their Christmas displays.

We Want You to Get Involved.

Do you love decorating your home for Christmas? Or perhaps you've always thought about joining the trail but never quite got around to it? This could be your year!

We're inviting Rotorua locals to register their homes and become part of the official 2026 EVES Christmas Lights Trail. Once registered, your home will feature on the official trail map, helping families and Christmas light enthusiasts find their way to your display. Members of the public will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite homes, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs for the top three displays.

You don't need to have the biggest or brightest display on the street. It's all about getting involved, having fun and sharing a little Christmas spirit with your community.

Registrations close: Wednesday 18 November 2026

Trail dates: 1–22 December 2026

Display times: 7:30pm–10:30pm each evening
