Vern Rice is consistently one of the top achievers in his office at Eves Realty. Tauranga born and bred, he comes to real estate after a stellar career in television journalism. Throughout the 1990s, Vern co-produced TVNZ news bulletins for the likes of Judy Bailey, Richard Long, Simon Dallow, Alison Mau – practically every major New Zealand presenter you can think of.
He also spent five years in Sydney producing television shows for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, including a nightly news bulletin watched live by 33 million people in Asia.
Coping with pressure and attending to detail are among the qualities Vern brings to real estate. He also has a special ability to relate to clients.
“In the end, real estate is all about people,” he says.
“You’ve really got to listen to what people are telling you, and deliver on their wishes.
“Nothing beats the feeling of knowing you’ve made both your vendor and your purchaser happy.
“I want my clients to come back to me, so it’s all about delivering first-class service.”
That high standard of service has paid off. Vern has been awarded 100 Club Achiever status for the last three years running, placing him within the top bracket of salespeople within Eves Realty.
